Anita Thornton, MFT Student Intern
I am a student intern from the Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT) program at Northcentral University. I received my bachelor’s degree in psychology at California State University, Northridge, Magna Cum Laude. My practice aims to cater to the individual with a variety of evidence-based research to fit the client’s unique needs.
I approach therapy with openness, empathy, and compassion. I am allied with the LGBTQIA+, kink, and sex worker populations. I am currently receiving my certification in positive sexuality to serve these communities better. I am an evidence-based, research-informed trainee in relationships that include monogamy and non-monogamy, questioning, and transgender individuals. I have also worked with various ethnicities and races and am culturally competent and respectful of cultural differences.
I am trained in Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), Humanism, Behaviorism, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Collaborative Therapy.
Ultimately, I believe that the connection and comfort between the therapist and the client is essential in providing the best atmosphere for individuals to succeed. I am enthusiastic about collaborating with and empowering you. We will work as a team to create and accomplish your goals.
I am looking forward to meeting you!
